The Netcare Garden City Hospital Emergency Department has been serving the surrounding community since 1 March 1989 and was the first private 24 hours a day Emergency Department in South Africa.
It is accredited as a Level 2 Paediatric Centre of Excellence Trauma Unit with a helicopter landing pad and renders quality care to approximately 21 000 Emergency Department patients a year.
